Sri lanka played their first T20 match against england and they won the match by 2 runs. Sri lanka has won the 2014 T20 world cup. Sri lankan cricket team had amazing cricketers such as sanath jayasuriya, kumar sangakkara, mahela jayawardena, thilakarathne dilshan,muttaiya muralidharan, arjuna ranathunga, aravindada silva,chamunda vaas etc. In 1996 si lanka has won the world cup. In that time sri lankan captain was arjuna ranathunga.in the final in 1996 world cup aravindada silva had played a beautiful inning to reach sri lanka to the world cup.
Sanath jayasuriya was record breaking player for sri lanka. I think he was the greatest all rounder in sri lanka. He was opening batsman. He helped the sri lankan team to achieve the world cup.
Muttaiya muralitharan was also a key player for srilanka. He is is off break bowler. He is the most wicket taker in both tests and odis. He took 800 wickets in his test career. Chaminda vaas was also a great left arm fast bowler played for sri lankan team. He has the record for the best bowling figure in odis and he is the only bowler to take a 8 wicket haul in a odi inning.
